The wooden church was consecrated on July 11th 1686 and houses unique wall and ceiling paintings. It was built by Finnish peasant Matti Harma, and dedicated to Hedvig Elenora, Queen of Sweden. It is the oldest wooden church that is still used in northern Lapland.
