Three primeval larches stand near St. Gertraud in Val d'Ultimo at 1430 metres above sea level on the edge of a forest. They are considered to be the oldest conifers in Europe and represent a unique natural monument. In the case of a larch tree that fell in 1930,2160 years were destroyed.
