The Ballhaus is located directly north of Wilhelmshöhe Palace. King Jérôme of Westphalia, the youngest brother of Napoleon, had it built from 1809 to 1810 as a court theatre by Leo von Klenze. The freestanding, classicist building was placed next to the north wing of the castle and is an early work of the later famous architect. Between 1828 and 1830 it was converted into a ballroom by Johann Conrad Bromeis under Elector Wilhelm II of Hesse-Cassel. It was used less by the farm itself than by the hotel opposite.
