The Ständehaus was built in 1834-36 according to the plans of Julius Eugen Ruhl in Kassel (Ständeplatz). The early neo-Renaissance building originally served as a conference venue for the Kurhessen estates and is now the seat of the Landeswohlfahrtsverband Hessen.
