The Ottoneum in Kassel was built as the first permanent theatre building in Germany and is now used as a natural history museum. It was built under Landgrave Moritz in the period 1603–1606 by the architect Wilhelm Vernukken and named "Ottoneum"" after Otto,the Landgrave's favourite son."
