Monika Lierhaus Uwe Seeler becomes 16th honorary captain of RICKMER RICKMERS. On Friday,5 September 2008,Wilhelm Klüver,chairman of the foundation of the same name,awards him the certificate of appointment with a ceremony in the on-board restaurant. We are proud,according to Klüver,to be able to call Germany's most famous captain our captain from now on. With this award,the museum ship Uwe Seeler pays tribute to his special services to youth and sport in the port city of Hamburg. Instead of a jersey,the football legend slips into a uniform modelled on the 1st captain of the RICKMER RICKMERS,Hermann Hinrich Ahlers,and forms a complete eleven with the ten honorary captains present.
