Dr. Michael Otto Second Mayor Christa Goetsch speaks at the reception of the World Future Council in the town hall Final presentation of the Children and Youth Conference as part of the annual meeting of the World Future Council in Hamburg. From 18 to 22 May 2008,the members of the World Future Council will meet at their second Council conference in Hamburg. Parallel to this Council conference,a three-day children's and youth conference will take place with around fifty pupils. In terms of content,acting and design,the children deal with climate change,species extinction,hunger and war in the world. The event will be held in the large ballroom of the town hall. Hamburg's Second Mayor and Senator for Schools and Vocational and Continuing Education,Christa Goetsch,will speak to the council members and the invited guests alongside the founder of the World Future Council,Jacob von Uexküll,and the chairwoman of the Steering Committee of the World Future Council,Bianca Jagger. The World Future Council was founded on 10 May 2007 with headquarters in Hamburg and is an international forum of 50 council members from politics,science,culture and society. The World Future Council is committed to responsible,sustainable thinking and acting in the interests of future generations. In cooperation with decision-makers and intergovernmental organisations,the World Future Council develops and promotes forward-looking policy approaches,legislative proposals and agreements.
