Taiwan pavilion Kyu-Goryo-Tei (旧御涼亭) overlooking the Upper Pond and surrounded by the pine and maple forests of the traditional Japanese garden of Gyoen Park under a blazing sun in early summer. This Chinese-influenced wooden building was erected in 1927 as a tribute to the marriage of the Japanese Emperor Shôwa (昭和 天皇) Hirohito (裕仁), 124th of his dynasty, and is part of the historic buildings selected by the city of Tokyo.
